A group exhibition featuring three women artists working with diverse media to evoke their aesthetic visions has commenced under the auspices of MAJI at Maroma, Auroville,
“Elemental Matters: An Exhibition of Material, Form, and Nature” is showcasing the works of Tejaswini Mistri Kapoor, Clara M. Sevilla, and Tosha Parmar.
A press note said Tejaswini Mistri Kapoor (sculptural wood works) brings to fruition the essence of her art in pieces such as “Flip-Flop” and “Between Function and Imagination,” while Clara Sevilla (digital painting and Kangra miniature techniques) bridges Western art with Indian aesthetic philosophy in works like the “Stardust” collection, “Emerald Horizon,” and “Moon in Cancer.”
Tosha Parmar (ceramics) reveals her mastery of Nerikomi, the Japanese technique of combining colored clays, with a touch of innovation in works such as “Rhythm of Time 1” vase and “Bowl of Stripes” that are realised through soda and wood firing.
The expo, curated by ceramic artist Supriya Menon Meneghetti, is on till December 13, with gallery hours Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
