President Donald Trump on Tuesday told U.S. troops in Japan, “I’d love to have your job” ― quite the bold statement considering the president has been called a draft dodger for a claim of foot bone spurs that allowed him to avoid service during the Vietnam War. But that wasn’t the only memorable quote from the president aboard the USS George Washington in Yokosuka. (Watch the clips below.)He also mused about magnets, encouraged military members to buy Toyotas, claimed unanimous support for the Nobel Peace Prize (sure, everybody but the Norwegian Nobel Committee) and rhapsodized about hugging missiles. That was on top of a smattering of election and inflation denial, Joe Biden insults and, on a more ominous note, a threat to summon “more” than the National Guard to U.S. cities he deems dangerous and uncooperative. Trump floated a lot of thoughts on his ship visit but the sinking feeling for his critics will only intensify. Here’s a collection of noteworthy comments collected by MeidasTouch’s Acyn:Trump: Nobody makes equipment like we do… And if they do, the American sailor stands ready to crush them and sink them and wreck them and blast them into oblivion… Everybody said I should get the Nobel Peace Award. With that statement, that takes me out of the running. pic.twitter.com/4h9X15jLAj— Acyn (@Acyn) October 28, 2025Trump: And I was just told by the prime minister that Toyota is going to be putting auto plants all over the United States to the tune of over $10 billion. So go out and buy a Toyota pic.twitter.com/rQiWFoRa4Z— Acyn (@Acyn) October 28, 2025Trump: All over the world, they're respecting us again. They respect us like never before. The treatment they gave me all over as I go around to different countries is great, but it's really a respect for me. But it's a bigger respect for our country pic.twitter.com/PnpZ26edyw— Acyn (@Acyn) October 28, 2025Trump: And we're sending in our National Guard. And if we need more than the National Guard, we'll send more than the National Guard, because we're going to have safe cities… whether people like that or not, that’s what we’re doing pic.twitter.com/I5Ysn7kH81— Acyn (@Acyn) October 28, 2025Close
