RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Tuesday expressed deep concern about and condemnation of the gross human rights violations that occurred during recent attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces in the western Sudanese city of El-Fasher.

The Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry stressed the need for the RSF to fulfil their duty to protect civilians, ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian aid, and adhere to international humanitarian law, as stated in the Jeddah Declaration of Commitment to Protect the Civilians of Sudan signed on May 11, 2023.

The Kingdom called for a return to dialogue to achieve an immediate ceasefire and stressed the importance of Sudan’s unity, security, and stability.

The ministry also highlighted the need to preserve Sudan’s legitimate institutions and the Kingdom’s rejection of foreign interventions that prolong the conflict and increase the suffering of the Sudanese people.
