Senior Maoist leader and Telangana State Committee member Bandi Prakash alias Prabhat, is set to surrender before Telangana Director General of Police, B. Shivadhar Reddy, on Tuesday (October 28, 2025), senior officials confirmed.
A native of Mandamarri in Mancherial district, Prakash has been associated with activism for over four decades. His activism began during the “Go to the Villages” campaign between 1982 and 1984, when he worked with the Revolutionary Students’ Union. He later became the president of the Singareni Workers’ Union, affiliated with the Maoist organisation, and went on to play a key role as an organiser in the National Park area.
Prakash has reportedly dedicated nearly 45 years to the CPI (Maoist), serving in various capacities.
Maoism in India: a movement in decline
His surrender follows Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s recent appeal to Maoists to lay down arms and join the mainstream during Police Martyrs’ Day.
