Three weeks after a 32-year-old UPSC aspirant’s charred body was recovered after a fire in north Delhi’s Timarpur, the Delhi Police arrested three people, including the deceased’s live-in partner, in connection with the alleged murder.

According to the police, Amrita Chauhan (21) allegedly planned with her ex-boyfriend after the deceased refused to delete her private videos he had stored on a hard disk. The third person in the conspiracy was a common friend.

On October 6, the Delhi Police received a PCR call alerting a fire at Timarpur’s Gandhi Vihar. From the spot, the rescuers found a charred body and the deceased was identified as Ram Kesh Meena (32), a UPSC aspirant.

Subsequently, Meena’s family lodged a complaint, and upon investigation, the police found CCTV footage showing two persons, their faces covered, entering the building the night before the fire. Some time later, one of them exits the building, following which a man and a woman were seen exiting the building. The police identified the woman as Amrita Chauhan, Ram Kesh’s live-in partner.

“As per the CCTV footage, the fire broke out soon after they left the building and Amrita’s phone’s CDR confirmed that she was near Ram Kesh’s flat at the time of the incident,” said a senior Delhi Police officer. Following this, the police zeroed in on the main accused’s location and arrested her.
