President Donald Trump showed off his dance moves over the weekend as he arrived in Malaysia.
But California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) called him out for partying abroad while Americans at home suffer due to the partial shutdown of the federal government ― especially as millions of people could lose access to critical food benefits next week.
“Donald Trump is literally dancing in Asia while 40 million people lose access to food,” Newsom wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Disgusting.”
Newsom shared a link to a report in The Hill stating people who rely on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits ― commonly known as food stamps ― may get nothing after Nov. 1, when current funding runs out, due to the shutdown.
