CNN’s Jake Tapper debunked Donald Trump’s repeated claim that the price of groceries is now “way down” thanks to his administration.

Tapper aired a montage of the president declaring as much over and over again.

“So frequently repeated,” Tapper said of Trump’s claims. “Those clips are just from the past two weeks alone.”

“But what are the facts?” the anchor asked. “Newly released inflation data shows that grocery prices are actually up again last month and have been on the rise since President Trump took office in January.”

“The average price of groceries rose 0.3% from August to September,” Tapper noted. “On average, grocery prices are about 1.4% higher than in January when President Trump took office, and they’re 2.7% higher than they were at this point last year.”
