Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday (October 26, 2025) disclosed that the Karnataka government is considering a request to shift the High Court of Karnataka to a new location and is in the process of identifying a suitable land for the new building within the Central Business District (CBD) area.
He said that the Chief Justice of the HC had pointed out that there is a severe shortage of space for functioning of the court in its present location and the Bengaluru Advocates’ Association (AAB) has already made a request to shift the HC to another location within the CBD.
Mr. Shivakumar was responding to a query by mediapersons, on whether there is any representation to shift the HC from its present location, after participating in ‘Walk with Bengaluru’, a public outreach programme, at Cubbon Park this morning.
Within CBD
The DCM, who is also in-charge of Bengaluru Developemt, said that AAB representatives had met him on October 25, 2025, and have suggested that the land used for race course by the Bangalore Turf Club Pvt Ltd could be considered as one of the options for constructing a new building for the HC. The Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bangalore Authority has referred another land for HC building, Mr. Shivakumar pointed out.
