The investigation into the spectacular theft at the Louvre has taken a decisive turn. Almost exactly one week after four men stole eight jewels from the French crown collection at the world's most visited museum, two men suspected of being part of the gang were arrested and taken into police custody on the evening of Saturday, October 25.

Louvre heist turns into a flashpoint in Paris municipal elections
Confirming information partially reported by several media outlets, including Paris Match and Le Parisien, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau stated in a press release on Sunday morning that "investigators from the BRB [the French police organized crime unit] carried out arrests on Saturday evening." Le Monde has learned that one of the suspects is a French national, while the second holds both French and Algerian citizenship.
