The silver jubilee valedictory conference of the State Bank staff union (Kerala Circle) [SBSU] was held in the capital on Saturday. The organisation represents the employees working in about 1,300 branches and offices of the State Bank of India across Kerala.
L. Chandrasekhar, general secretary of the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation (AISBISF) and the National Confederation of Bank Employees (NCBE) inaugurated the conference. In his address, he urged the government to withdraw its decision on the merger of public sector banks, which undermines the fundamental objectives of bank nationalisation.
H.C. Rajath, president, SBSU (Kerala Circle), presided over the function. Manmohan Swain, general manager, State Bank of India, delivered the keynote address.
