Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Sunday invited kabaddi players Karthika R. and Abinesh M. to his home and handed over cheques for ₹25 lakh as incentives to each of them. The players had recently returned from Bahrain, where they were part of the kabaddi teams that won gold medals in the 3rd Asian Youth Games.
In a social media post, he also recalled his interaction with the players. “When I recalled demands made by people of Kannagi Nagar whenever I visited the locality and asked Karthika if these have been fulfilled, she said the locality had developed substantially over the past four years.”
Both Ms. Karthika and Mr. Abhinesh sought assistance from him, Mr. Stalin said, and assured them that their demands would be fulfilled. “Tamil Nadu, the land of social justice, takes pride from Bison Kaalamaadan to Abhinesh and Karthika, who emerged from humble backgrounds to post their achievements,” he added. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and officials were also present.
