Thrissur has achieved a historic milestone by becoming completely free from extreme poverty, the culmination of four-and-a-half years of the State government’s focussed welfare initiatives. Revenue Minister K. Rajan made the official declaration at an event here on Friday (October 24, 2025).

“Kerala has become the first State in the country without extreme poverty. Through Kudumbashree, 64,006 extremely poor families were identified across the State, and all of them have now been lifted out of extreme poverty. This achievement stands as proof that any goal can be realised through persistent and collective effort,” the Minister said. He also lauded the dedicated work of Kudumbashree volunteers and officials who played key roles at every stage of the project — from identification to rehabilitation.
