Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday burned Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s reported upcoming food recommendations, which are said to promote eating saturated fats. The “Tonight Show” host was riffing on President Donald Trump’s demolition of the White House’s East Wing to build a $250 million ballroom when Fallon switched gears to Kennedy’s controversial overhaul of dietary guidelines as part of the Make America Healthy Again movement.“Health Secretary RFK Jr. is set to announce that Americans should eat more butter, cheese and red meat,” Fallon said. “When they heard that, every cardiologist started building their own $200 million ballroom.”As the audience laughed, the comedian added, “They’re like, ‘Wanna add bacon in there, too?’ ”Fast-forward to 5:23 for a taste of Fallon’s Kennedy zinger:NewsNation reported Kennedy’s plans earlier this week and said they could be issued before the end of the month.Kennedy has touted his own “carnivore diet,” featuring meat, yogurt without added sugar and fermented vegetables such as kimchi.Several of his previous nutritional claims, including a call to fry foods in beef tallow rather than seed oils like canola and sunflower, have drawn scrutiny. The American Heart Association recommends that people keep their saturated fat intake at less than 6% of the calories they consume daily.
