Disgraced former Rep. George Santos’ (R-N.Y.) warning that he’d flee New York City should Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani become its mayor was greeted with ridicule, and hope, on social media Tuesday.
Santos, whose seven-year prison sentence for ripping off his campaign donors was controversially commuted by President Donald Trump last week, fearmongered on X, formerly Twitter:
“Sadly it seems that my family and I will be departing the city I’ve called home my entire life. NYC will become a very dangerous place to live in if we elect mayor Mamdani and that is a risk I am unwilling to take now that I want to start growing my family.”
Critics essentially said good riddance to the serial fabulist, who also this week all but admitted he likely won’t refund his victims.
