News anchor Bryant Gumbel is in the hospital after suffering a “medical emergency” on Monday night, according to information from TMZ.

First responders reportedly took Gumbel, 77, from his Manhattan apartment on a gurney around 9 p.m. before he was transported to emergency medical facilities via ambulance. He remains in hospital care as of Tuesday.

While there were no details about the nature of his health scare, his family told TMZ he is doing “okay.”

HuffPost was unable to reach Gumbel’s representatives for further comment.

The legendary broadcaster has dealt with serious medical issues in the past, previously contending with lung cancer in 2009.
