With local body elections fast approaching, the reservation of wards for women, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes in the Kochi Corporation, Ernakulam district panchayat, and block panchayats has been completed.

The reservation of wards in the Kochi Corporation and block panchayats in the district was conducted on October 18, while that for the district panchayat took place on Tuesday, October 21.
In the Kochi Corporation, divisions 41 and 59 are reserved for Scheduled Caste women, and division 13 is reserved for Scheduled Castes. In the general category, 36 divisions are reserved for women: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 15, 20, 24, 26, 28, 29, 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 39, 40, 42, 45, 53, 54, 55, 56, 63, 64, 65, 69, 70, 74, and 76.
Following the recent delimitation, the total number of divisions in the Kochi Corporation has increased from 74 to 76, resulting in significant changes to existing boundaries and division numbers. Although the exercise added only two divisions, it created four new ones and eliminated two existing ones, which were merged into other divisions due to boundary adjustments.
