President Donald Trump all but confirmed his threats to send troops to San Francisco will soon be a reality in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures.”
During a meandering conversation that took up all of this weekend’s episode, the president defended his controversial crime crackdown as he claimed that Washington, D.C., was a “death trap” before he ordered the National Guard to patrol the capital.
Turning his attention to another city currently occupied by the National Guard, Trump claimed that citizens of Chicago love having soldiers there and it’s only leaders like Illinois’ Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker who are opposed.
Imagining if he were in Pritzker’s shoes, Trump said, “If I were him, if I were a Democrat and I with were I were him, I’d say, come on in. What do you have to lose?”
Bartiromo then asked if the president has plans to deploy the National Guard to San Francisco, a city he’s threatened to send the military to multiple times before.
