The Kerala High Court on Friday (October 17, 2025) lifted the suspension of toll collection it had imposed on August 6 at the NHAIs Paliyekkara toll plaza in Thrissur.

It, however, curbed the NHAI from collecting the enhanced toll that the agency planned to levy on motorists using the 65 k.m. long Edapally-Mannuthy NH 544 stretch, without further orders from the court.

The matter has not been closed, it said, while referring to traffic congestion being reported at multiple locations on the National Highway. The court appreciated the efforts of the interim traffic management committee in lessening traffic snarls on the stretch.

The High Court had suspended the toll collection following perennial traffic holdups on the busy NH 544 corridor, which in early August led to a 12 hour long traffic snarl.
