Don't call them old quarterbacks, call them quarterbacks of old.
Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) are set for a showdown with Joe Flacco and the Cincinnati Bengals (2-4) in the Week 7 "Thursday Night Football" matchup, but this matchup is more than a battle of AFC North rivals.
The pair of passers represents the old guard of NFL quarterbacks and is making a bit of history in doing so. Rodgers (41) and Flacco (40) are two of the oldest players in the league – and the oldest passers, period – to take the stage.
Both quarterbacks are getting a new lease on their respective NFL lives. Rodgers is in the midst of his first season with Mike Tomlin and the Steelers and has performed well, tossing 10 touchdowns to just one interception in his new digs this season.
After his trade from the Cleveland Browns (one which Mike Tomlin was none too pleased with), Flacco was given the keys to the Bengals' offense. Now, he'll have a second chance to pilot the high-powered ship, including playmakers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins as he holds down the fort for an injured Joe Burrow.
