Oct. 16 (UPI) -- A U.S. District Court for Maryland grand jury on Thursday indicted former National Security adviser John Bolton for allegedly illegally holding and sharing national security information.
The grand jury indicted Bolton, 76, on 18 counts that accuse him of holding or sharing the documents that he obtained while he was President Donald Trump's National Security adviser from 2018 to 2019, the New York Post reported.
Each count carries a maximum prison sentence of up to 10 years if Bolton is convicted.
Trump fired Bolton in 2019 and views him as a political enemy. He has joined former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James in being accused of federal crimes, according to The New York Times.
