The Udupi police raided three places in the limits of Kota, Brahmavara, and Karkala police station and seized illegally stored crackers worth ₹.
The police raided a shed in the house of K. Prashant Jogi, 44, at Tekkatte village in Kundapura taluk where he had stocked crackers without taking necessary permission and without following safety norms.
The Kota police registered a case against Jogi and seized ₹1.61 lakh worth crackers.
The Brahmavara police seized ₹35,000 worth crackers stocked by Shivanand Rao, 50, near his house at Kunjal in Aarooru village. The police said that Rao did not take permission and stocked crackers without following necessary safety precautions.
The Karkala Town police registered cases against Satyendra Nayak, 70, Shrikanth Nayak, 37, and Ramanand Nayak, 70, for allegedly illegally stocking crackers at Dendabettu in Miyar village. The police seized ₹1 crore worth crackers from them.
