Andhra Pradesh received 530.9 mm rainfall, considered ‘normal’, during the Southwest Monsoon between June 1 and September 30 this year, according to information provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Amaravati.

The normal rainfall during this period is 521.6 mm. While the amount of rainfall received by the State this year is slightly higher than the normal, it is the second lowest in the past five years.

According to the IMD, the State received 629. 2 mm rainfall during the Southwest Monsoon in 2024, 454. 6 mm in 2023, 575. 5 mm in 2022, 613. 3 mm in 2021. Last year, except for 10 districts, all other districts recorded excess rainfall.

But this year, excess rainfall was reported in only five districts, while the two districts of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema and Kakinda recorded a deficit rainfall of 23%. All other districts reported normal rainfall.
