President Donald Trump constructed his own mega McDonald’s sandwich while eating from the fast food restaurant chain on the 2024 campaign trail, according to Republican National Committee chair Joe Gruters.Gruters, an ally of Trump, told the “Chambers, Changes & Conversations” podcast he didn’t expect to witness the amount of — and what food — the president eats while traveling on his plane.“He had hot fries waiting for him from McDonald’s ... And then he had a Filet-O-Fish, a Quarter Pounder, and a Big Mac, and I think he combined two of them,” said Gruters, who did not reveal which two sandwiches Trump put together. He added that the president also had an orange soda. However, he did not specify the exact beverage Trump selected from McDonald’s (the chain usually serves Fanta orange soda as well as a non-carbonated HI-C Orange Lavaburst juice).“I’m thinking to myself, ‘How does a guy that’s as senior as him get away with eating all this McDonald’s, probably on a consistent basis?’” Gruters remarked.“I had two of the sandwiches and I was sick as a dog for like 24 hours.”He proceeded to describe the experience as “unique” before suggesting that McDonald’s pay Trump over his love for the chain.President Donald Trump speaks from a McDonald's drive-thru window during an October 2024 campaign stop in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania.via Associated PressTrump’s alleged order from McDonald’s, a chain he has adored during his time in the White House and on the campaign trail, appears to be a change from his order as detailed by campaign insiders back in 2017: two Big Macs, two Filet-o-Fish sandwiches and a chocolate milkshake.By 2022, Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, revealed a different iteration of the president’s order: a Big Mac, a Filet-o-Fish, fries, and a vanilla milkshake.Following his election win last year, Trump was pictured alongside Elon Musk, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), his son Donald Trump Jr. and future Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as they dined on McDonald’s while aboard “Trump Force One.”The president appeared to have a Big Mac, a Filet-O-Fish, and fries in front of him, along with what looked like a bottle of Fanta orange soda off to the side. The snap arrived just days after Trump declared that Kennedy wanted to “help make America great and healthy again” and would help protect the U.S. from “food additives.”Close
