The Annamayya district police have cracked the whip on illegal cockfights organised in forest locations under Danduboyanapalli panchayat limits of Valmikipuram mandal on Tuesday (October 14, 2025).
Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Kunubilli directly supervised the deployment of drones to curb the unlawful activity in the rural areas. Speaking to the media here, the SP said that advanced drone surveillance was deployed to track the movement of organisers and punters in the dense forest terrain. “Based on precise intelligence gathered through drone monitoring, our teams conducted a surprise raid and successfully nabbed 15 organisers involved in the illegal gambling event,” Mr. Kunubilli said.
The police seized 18 motorcycles, ₹24,200 cash, and five roosters trained for the contraband sport. SP Kunubilli said that in view of the ensuing Sankranthi festivities, constant drone surveillance would be in place in the rural areas, particularly in the forested villages and even in the dense forest beats to check cockfights and gambling.
