Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Former United States Men's National Team and Atlanta United goalie Brad Guzan will retire from soccer after the 2025 MLS season, he announced Tuesday.
"I still remember the first time I stepped onto the field -- just a kid from Chicago who instantly knew this game was for me," Guzan wrote on Instagram. "From that moment on, I lived the dream every training session, every game and every single day.
"But today, as I prepare to hang up my gloves, put away the jersey and clean off my boots one final time, I know this journey was never just about me -- it's always been about the people who walked beside me."
Guzan, 41, made his senior career debut in 2004 for Chicago Fire Premier, a fourth-tier American club. He joined Chivas USA as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft. Guzan also played for Aston Villa in the Premier League and with EFL Championship clubs Hull City and Middlesbrough.
