The Lokayukta police on Tuesday searched five properties linked to Udupi Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Lakshminarayan Naika in connection with disproportionate assets case

According to the Lokayukta officials, the value of his assets assessed so far was 133% more than his known sources of income.

In a statement, the Lokayukta police said five different teams of officials simultaneously searched five places related to Naika. It included his office in Manipal, the house where he resided in Udupi, a house of his relative, and the residence of his confidante Ravi Sherigar.

The Lokayukta police seized documents related to two houses and three sites linked to him. Gold and silver articles were found at his residence during the raid. A probe is under way into the items kept in the bank locker related to him and other assets allegedly possessed by him.

The police said ₹3 lakh unaccounted cash was found in Ravi Sherigar’s house. The police seized some vehicle registration certificates from his residence.
