The Congress on Tuesday (October 14, 2025) criticised the Modi government after U.S. President Donald Trump publicly praised Pakistan Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, questioning its implications for India.
The party said Mr. Trump was “endorsing India’s enemies” on global stage despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated claims of close friendship with the U.S. President.
Trump again claims he pushed India, Pakistan to peace through trade pressure, tariff threats
At a world leaders’ summit in Egypt on Monday (October 13), Mr. Trump invited Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to speak, calling him and General Munir “friends of peace.”
Congress communications in-charge Jairam Ramesh said the Prime Minister’s “desperate attempts to ingratiate himself” with the U.S. President seem hollow in light of the American leader’s actions.
