Vice President J.D. Vance did not rule out the possibility of President Donald Trump invoking the Insurrection Act when asked directly about it in a Sunday interview.

“Are you seriously considering invoking the Insurrection Act?” host Kristen Welker asked Vance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” as the two discussed the deployment of troops to U.S. cities.

“Well, the president’s looking at all of his options,” Vance responded. “Right now, he hasn’t felt he needed to.”

The vice president’s comments come as Trump raised the prospect of using the Insurrection Act last week and as NBC News has reported that the move has been under discussion among White House officials.

“If I had to enact it, I would do that,” Trump previously said on Oct. 6, describing it as a potential workaround in case judges stymie his deployments. “If people were being killed and courts were holding us up, or governors or mayors were holding us up.”
