The 11th flight test of SpaceX's Starship megarocket is on the launch pad and preparing to launch Monday evening. The launch window opens at 7:15 p.m. ET.

The launch is the fifth flight test in 2025. The spacecraft is expected to take astronauts to the moon and eventually Mars.

SpaceX is developing Starship as a fully reusable transportation system, meaning the rocket and vehicle can return to the ground for additional missions. In the years ahead, Starship is set to serve a pivotal role in future U.S. spaceflight.

Starship, built by Elon Musk's spaceflight company, SpaceX, has been marked by numerous challenges and successes across 10 flight tests. It has faced explosions and setbacks but also has achieved successful reentries, booster catches, and even reuse of a booster.
