The Government of Telangana has launched Tourist Police Units across major tourist destinations in the state as part of its efforts to enhance visitor safety and deliver a world-class travel experience.

As part of the initiative, 80 police personnel underwent specialised training in Orientation and Sensitisation of Tourist Police from October 6 to 9 at the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM), Hyderabad. The programme included field visits on October 10 and 11 to prominent tourist sites such as Yadagirigutta, Bhongir Fort, Golconda Fort, Qutb Shahi Tombs, and Lumbini Park, where trainees gained practical exposure to on-ground tourist management, said Valluru Kranthi, Director, Department of Tourism.

The trained police personnel will be stationed at key tourist destinations across seven districts, including Hyderabad. In Hyderabad, they will be deployed at Charminar, Golconda Fort, and the Salar Jung Museum.

All trained officers have been instructed to report to their assigned duty locations on Monday, October 13, and maintain high standards of punctuality, discipline, and professionalism while on duty. The Tourist Police Units were formally inaugurated on September 27, coinciding with World Tourism Day, during the Telangana Tourism Conclave 2025 held in Hyderabad.
