The Bombay High Court on Friday (October 10, 2025) dismissed a civil suitcase filed by actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui seeking ₹100 crore in damages from his brother Shamasuddin Siddiqui and ex-wife Anjana Kishore Pandey. He has accused them of defamation, cheating, and misappropriation of money.
However, Single Bench judge, Justice Jitendra Jain dismissed the suit for non-prosecution. A detailed copy of the order is awaited.
The suit, filed in March 2023, said Mr. Siddiqui had appointed his brother as his business manager in 2008 when Mr. Shamasuddin was unemployed. The actor claimed that he trusted his brother completely and handed over credit cards, ATM cards, debit cards, cheque books, bank passwords and email access. According to the petition, this trust was misused. Mr. Siddiqui alleged that his brother diverted his earnings to buy flats in Mumbai, a farmhouse in Shahpur, land in Muzaffarnagar and even an apartment in Dubai. He also claimed that luxury cars and bikes were purchased with his money. The actor said statutory dues were ignored, leaving him with tax liabilities of ₹37 crore and notices from government departments. He alleged that more than ₹21 crore was misappropriated.
The documents state that Mr. Shamasuddin purchased a fleet of luxury vehicles using the actor’s money. These included a Ford Endeavour, BMW X5, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Defender, Jeep Wrangler, BMW Mini Cooper Countryman, Nissan Kicks, Ducati Scrambler bike, two Vespa scooters, Mercedes-Benz GLS 300, Mahindra Thar, BMW Cooper Convertible and a Jawa motorcycle. Siddiqui said these acquisitions were made without his consent and under the pretext of managing his assets.
