SEOUL, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- South Korean tycoons have been urged to appear at the parliamentary hearings, which will start next week. Among them are SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Eui-sun.
The National Assembly confirmed Friday that its 17 standing committees will begin annual audits of related government agencies Monday and they will continue through early next month. Around 200 business leaders have been summoned to attend.
SK Chairman Chey will be questioned about suspicions of the conglomerate's intra-group transactions, while Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung will be called to testify regarding a strike by one of the automaker's suppliers earlier this year.
Some executives have been requested to appear at multiple hearings. Three committees have summoned MBK Partners Chairman Michael Byungju Kim in connection with the Home Plus crisis and the Lotte Card data breach.
