Hamas has rejected plans that would have seen Tony Blair involved in the running of post-war Gaza despite agreeing to Donald Trump's peace deal. The US president had proposed a transitional 'Board of Peace' headed up by himself and the former prime minister to oversee an interim governing authority. Sir Tony has recently been part of high-level planning talks with the US and other parties about the future of Gaza.However, Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas official, said no Palestinian faction would ever accept such a proposal.'All the factions, including the Palestinian Authority, reject this,' he told Qatar's Al Araby television network yesterday.Israel and Hamas have agreed to a Trump-brokered ceasefire deal that would see the release of all remaining hostages in exchange for 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.However, under the US president's plans, which were unveiled on September 29, he also called for Gaza to be governed by an interim authority. In a live-streamed cabinet meeting on Thursday, Trump did not address Hamas's concerns about this aspect of the peace deal.
