Israel's government has approved the plan for the 'release of all captives' fighting in Gaza to stop within 24 hours.

The first phase will include a ceasefire, a phased Israeli withdrawal, the release of hostages and prisoners, and entry of aid.

Forty-eight Israeli hostages due to be released on Monday, with nearly 2,000 Palestinian detainees to follow

The ceasefire is also expected to be accompanied by a surge of humanitarian aid into Gaza, parts of which are experiencing famine.

Gaza killings continue despite ceasefire agreement, as US president says captives could be exchanged early next week.

Earlier this week, a Hamas source said the armed group had agreed to a temporary ceasefire proposal from mediators.
