The All Women Police, Kumbakonam, have registered a case against a priest under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and were interrogating him. According to sources, the accused, Viswanathan, 75, serving as a priest at Vellai Vinayakar Temple at Thiruvalanchuzhi had allegedly “misbehaved” with a 13-year-old girl who came to the temple for worship along with her family from Melattur near Thanjavur on September 8. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with the temple authorities and at the All Women Police Station, Kumbakonam, by her parents and a case was registered.
