DUSHANBE, October 9. /TASS/. Moscow and Dushanbe would like to see a fairer international trade system, one where unilateral coercive measures are not used, according to a joint statement by Russian and Tajik Presidents Vladimir Putin and Emomali Rahmon.
"The parties are committed to creating a fairer and more non-discriminatory international trade system and strongly condemn the use of unilateral coercive measures, including those of an extraterritorial nature, in violation of the UN Charter," the statement says.
Russia and Tajikistan note that such practices are contrary to the interests of the entire international community and undermine global food and energy security. The parties consider political pressure exerted on third countries through illegitimate restrictive mechanisms unacceptable.
"In this regard, the parties also stress the importance of sustainable development, food security, and the promotion of a green economy and energy as integral elements of the global agenda," the document says.
Moscow and Dushanbe also note with satisfaction the positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation, to which the work of the relevant intergovernmental commission makes a significant contribution. The countries express mutual interest in further strengthening economic cooperation, paying particular attention to improving the investment climate and increasing the number of joint projects.
