VJust hours before the scheduled visit of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to Anakapalli district, the police have granted permission for his road travel from Visakhapatnam airport to Makavarapalem in Narsipatnam. However, the police have asked the YSRCP organisers to use an alternate route instead of the one proposed earlier.Narsipatnam Sub-Division DSP P. Srinivasa Rao told The Hindu that the police had asked the YSRCP to use Anandapuram–Anakapalli Highway for the road travel, instead of NH-16.The convoy of Mr. Jagn Mohan Reddy will be directed to NAD Junction, Pendurthi to reach Anandapuram–Anakapalli Highway. From Anakapalli, it will be diverted towards Pudimadaka Junction, Kotturu Junction and Thallapalem Junction. From Thallapalem Junction, the convoy will take a turn to Narsipatnam route and reach the venue at Makavarapalem.“The YSRCP has informed that there will be a gathering of around 2,500 people at the venue, Makavarapalem Medical College,” the DSP said, noting that the police have not given any permission for any roadshow along the route.Meanwhile, Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta, in a release on Wednesday, said that elaborate multi-district security and traffic arrangements were in place across Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts, in view of the ICC Women’s Cricket Match at Dr. Y.S.R ACA-VDCA Stadium, and the political programme of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy at Narsipatnam. The DGP said that permission for the YSRCP programme at Narsipatnam had been granted strictly within the limits of the approved route, timing, and itinerary, under Sections 30 & 30A of the Police Act, 1861. Any change of route, additional halts, or crowd mobilisation beyond the sanctioned plan shall automatically cancel the permission and invite immediate police intervention and criminal prosecution, the DGP said.“The police will enforce all legal and safety conditions with full authority to ensure public safety, discipline, and law and order,” he said. The YSRCP will be responsible for ensuring that supporters do not line up, assemble, or obstruct the convoy route on NH-16, SH-38, or connecting corridors. Any attempt to mobilise cadres, create crowd surges, or block traffic will be treated as a wilful violation of law and dealt with firmly and without exception, the DGP said. The DGP has asked the YSRCP to submit a written undertaking accepting personal and vicarious liability for any breach of conditions or untoward incident. If any injury, death, or damage to property occurs due to negligence, over-mobilisation, or violation of conditions, the organiser will be held accountable and prosecuted under the law, he said.
