Oct. 8 (UPI) -- The Winnipeg Jets signed forward Kyle Connor to a $96 million contract extension, the NHL franchise announced Wednesday.

Connor's eight-year deal, the richest in Jets history, features an average annual salary of $12 million.

The 28-year-old winger totaled 41 goals last season, when he also totaled career highs with assists (56) and points (97), over 82 appearances.

He also totaled career-highs in postseason goals (five), assists (12) and points (17) and was named to the NHL's First All-Star Team.
