Oct. 7 (UPI) -- British automaker Jaguar Land Rover will restart production Wednesday at some of its manufacturing sites as it continues to recover from a cyberattack.
The Aug. 31 attack targeted the company's retail and production operations. The company has been unable to produce cars since the attack forced it to shut down its IT networks.
JLR said the phased restart would begin Wednesday in the West Midlands. It will include a factory in Wolverhampton and a battery assembly center in Hams Hall near Birmingham. Some sites that do metal bodywork will also be reopened. Then a plant in Slovakia will resume operations.
The company also announced a new financing plan to help its suppliers, which are struggling during the shutdown. JLR will pay with cash upfront during the restart, so that suppliers that qualify will get paid much faster. The company said the plan will expand to include some non-production suppliers.
