The Supreme Court on Tuesday (October 7, 2025) expressed concern over “grave discrimination” in treatment of cadets medically discharged during training. The court noted that while recruits injured during training receive certain benefits, cadets who are on the verge of being commissioned as officers but are forced to discontinue owing to injuries are “left high and dry.”A Bench of Justices B.V. Nagarathna and R. Mahadevan observed, “The recruits who do not complete training are getting the benefits. But the officers-to-be, who are not able to complete training owing to injuries sustained during it, are left high and dry. To that extent, there is a lot of heartburn.” Published - October 07, 2025 07:35 pm IST
