Former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch H.D. Deve Gowda has been hospitalised in Bengaluru after developing a urinary tract infection (UTI) accompanied by high fever and chills.The 92-year-old leader was admitted to Manipal Hospital on Old Airport Road on Monday (October 6, 2025) evening. Doctors said his condition is stable.In a statement issued on Tuesday (October 7, 2025), the hospital said that Mr. Deve Gowda “was admitted with an infection” and is “currently undergoing medical management for the same.” His condition is being closely monitored by a team of specialists, the statement added.Speaking to The Hindu, Dr. C.N. Manjunath, Bengaluru Rural MP and Mr. Deve Gowda’s son-in-law, said the former Prime Minister was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).“He developed a high fever with chills due to UTI. His renal parameters were also deranged and he required hospital care. He may have to remain in the ICU for one or two days before being shifted to the ward,” Dr. Manjunath said.He added that Mr. Deve Gowda is expected to stay in hospital for a few more days before discharge.Mr. Deve Gowda, who continues to remain active in political affairs, had been attending a series of meetings related to party activities in recent weeks.
