Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich on Monday warned the United States could be heading toward “either martial law or civil war.”
In his latest Substack newsletter, the former Bill Clinton Cabinet member noted President Donald Trump’s talk of invoking the Insurrection Act could see him deploying troops domestically “despite any court orders stopping him.”

Reich outlined how he believes how the chilling situation could unfurl, and suggested it is a plan that’s already been thought out by top Trump henchmen.
First, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents use aggressive tactics in targeted Democratic-run cities, sparking demonstrations, as happened in Los Angeles. Trump exaggerates the unrest to justify deploying National Guard troops, before his final play of invoking the Insurrection Act to assert total control.
