Taylor Swift is shutting down “offensive” rumors that her current era will also be her last.
The 14-time Grammy winner unveiled her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” last week to major fanfare and boffo streaming numbers. The album’s release just weeks after Swift confirmed her engagement to NFL player Travis Kelce has prompted some fans to speculate that the couple’s upcoming wedding will also mark the end of Swift’s record-smashing music career.
Speaking to BBC Radio 2 journalist Scott Miles on Monday, however, Swift made it clear she has no intention of retreating from the spotlight.
“That’s a shockingly offensive thing to say,” Swift said when Mills pointed out some had suggested “The Life of a Showgirl” would be her last album. “That’s not why people get married, so that they can quit their job.”
After joking that her fans “love to panic sometimes,” she pointed out how supportive Kelce has been of her commitment to her career, particularly in the lead-up to the release of “The Life of a Showgirl.”
