In a unique initiative to promote sustainable tourism and enhance rural livelihoods, the Indian Army inaugurated a tent-based homestay facility on Monday (October 6, 2025) in the scenic border village of Garbyang, Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand.

Garbyang, also known as the Gateway to Gunji, is a tri-junction of India, Nepal, and Tibet, holding strategic and spiritual significance. It serves as a critical junction for two major pilgrimage routes — towards Adi Kailash and Om Parvat-Kalapani, attracting both pilgrims and adventure tourists. Its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage make it an ideal location for sustainable tourism initiatives.
