A shameless Irish woman has boasted about exploiting an Australian visa loophole, mocking the system and draining taxpayer funds - prompting the immigration minister to issue a stark warning.
Dearbhla Kelly, from Derry in Ireland, admitted that she, along with many friends, applied for asylum as a way to extend their stay in Australia once their working holiday visas run out.
Openly ridiculing the immigration process, Ms Kelly said while she does not meet the strict requirements, the lengthy processing times mean she can remain in the country for years.
'You're never going to get the visa. I wanted it to buy me time until I found another visa that I was going to go under,' she bragged in a TikTok video.
'Processing times were like 34 months - so like three years - and that buys me a load of time to figure out what visa I want to go under. So that was grand.'
