A40-something Romanian man was arrested Monday for murdering a 64-year-old woman of Romanian origin at Gela in Sicily last month, the latest in a string of femicides in Italy.

The man, a farm labourer who lives in Gela, lived with the victim, Veronica Abaza, police said.

Further details will be provided at a press conference on Tuesday, they said.

The alleged murder took place in the town near Caltanissetta on September 17.
