Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will bring home all of the hostages held by Hamas 'in the coming days' in a speech this evening.

The Israeli prime minister claimed that 'military and diplomatic pressure' had compelled the Palestinian group to agree to release the captives.

In his televised statement from Jerusalem on Saturday, Netanyahu said he has sent a delegation to Egypt 'to finalise technical details', adding that 'our goal is to contain these negotiations to a timeframe of a few days'.

However, despite the push for peace by Donald Trump, Netanyahu made clear that Israel would retain the option to use force if necessary.

Despite the US president's order on Friday night that Israel 'immediately' stop bombing Gaza, air strikes appeared to have continued in the region overnight into Saturday.
