U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer will visit India from October 8 to 9.
During the visit, Mr. Starmer and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will discuss “issues of regional and global importance”, said the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday. The visit comes in the backdrop of the ongoing wars in Gaza and Ukraine.
His visit is expected to further boost bilateral trade as it comes months after India and the U.K. signed the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
During the trip, Mr. Starmer and Mr. Modi will attend the sixth edition of the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai on October 9 and deliver keynote addresses in the event.
Both the leaders have welcomed the Gaza peace plan of U.S. President Donald Trump. As Mr. Starmer’s visit comes just two months ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s expected visit to India, the Ukraine war is also likely to feature in the bilateral talks.
