Manchester synagogue attacker Jihad Al-Shamie yelled 'this is what they get for killing our children' as he tried to barge through the doors and stab worshippers, according to a witness who barricaded the doors of the building.

Alan Levy watched on in horror as the Syrian-born terrorist drove his car at Jewish worshippers before launching a bloodthirsty knife attack while wearing a fake suicide vest outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation on Thursday.

Al-Shamie, 35, who it emerged last night was on bail for alleged rape when he launched the vile onslaught, claimed the life of Melvin Cravitz, 66, who courageously stopped the terrorist from entering the building before being stabbed.

It is believed that the second victim of the attack, Adrian Daulby, 53, was accidentally shot dead by police while attempting to prevent Al-Shamie from rampaging through the door to the premises.

Mr Levy, who is the chairman of the synagogue's trustees, had also lined up with a number of the other worshippers to barricade the door and prevent Al-Shamie from entering.
