The eight-day terracotta sculpture workshop ‘Kalayika’, organised by Kalagramam at VUDA Layout in Kapuluppada here, concluded in an ‘open studio’ on Friday evening (October 03, 2025). The workshop brought together artists from Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, and Darjeeling.G. Ravinder Reddy, eminent sculptor, participated as chief guest at the open studio, which also saw the participation of renowned artist V. Ramesh, printmaker T. Sudhakar Reddy, artist B. Maheswara Das, art historian Sistla Srinivas, Fine Arts HOD D. Simhachalam, eminent sculptor Venkat Bothsa, and art connoisseur Mayank Deo. They lauded the dedication of the artists and expressed that more such workshops are needed for the region’s art community.The participants included Addepalli Tirupati Rao, Appala Naidu Kasturi, Chaganti Durga Prasad, Deepika Gautam, Kanaka Durgeswara Rao Chintoju, Kotturu Lakshmana Rao, Kunatharaju Mrudula, Narasinga Rao Vanapalli, Ramakrishna Manyala, Sabbavarapu Venkateswara Rao, Sanivada Lakshman Kumar, Swarnalatha Mahapatra, and Wangdi Sherpa, who are all artists representing teaching, professional, and freelance backgrounds.The workshop stood out for providing rare dedicated time to explore and collaborate, breaking the boundaries that often separate artists in today’s fast-paced world, according to a statement issued by Peddinti Sri Kavya, the organiser.PowerPoint presentations and open discussions enriched the learning environment, while participation from local students and community members transformed the studio into a vibrant collective space. In a world where creative practice can easily fragment, Kalagramam offered a homecoming reminding all that through art and shared presence, creative journeys are both continued and deeply enriched, the release added.
